Hawke and Kid by Jescie Hall- These books mean everything to me. They're interconnected stand-alones. Both with beautifully broken characters who are trying to find their way. Hawke is forced proximity, roommate, ex- con. A beautiful story about knowing your worth, and not accepting anything less. Kid is an emotionally charged story about substance abuse and over coming those obstacles, it deals heavily with grief and learning to live life beyond the pain of losing someone important to you.

Was I Ever Here by Naomi Loud- This remarkably touching story has such a chokehold on me. Soulmates through many lifetimes who are destined to find one another and break the cycle of premature death due to depression. Byzantine and Sunny have lived many lives together, and they all end in tragedy. Byz, who worked for the largest crime syndicate in Nox Port comes face to face with his star crossed lover which threatening the life of her boss. He then works tirelessly to convince Sunny that they are meant to be together. It's a dark and emotional story that I will never stop thinking about.

Hello and welcome to my corner of the internet! I'm Diem, a proud homeschooling mom to a lively 7-year-old boy. I'm happily married and my journey as a wife and mother has been nothing short of an adventure.

Originally hailing from the beautiful Vancouver Island, I have a deep-rooted love for the Pacific Northwest and all the natural wonders it offers. The lush forests, breathtaking coastline, and the vibrant communities that thrive here have shaped who I am today.

When I'm not busy with homeschooling or spending quality time with my family, you'll often find me immersed in the world of books. I have an insatiable passion for literature, with a special affinity for dark romance and fantasy novels. The allure of forbidden love, complex characters, and the intense emotions that these books evoke never fail to captivate me.

This space is my way of sharing my love for the enchanting world of books, share book recs, help you find new authors and stay in the loop. I hope to connect with and create a community that embraces the joys of reading.

Having grown from 0-40k in 11 months, I feel like I've done something right along the way. Here are a couple pointers to help you with growth... and stay tuned for a more in depth guide down the road.

1. Be sure to have a Booktok page solely dedicated to book recs, reviews. I find the more range your page has, the more difficult it will be to find your target audience. Posting about personal stuff every now and then is okay, but I find that niching down is extremely helpful.

2. Show up consistently. For the first 9 months of growing my Booktok, I posted 3-5 times a day. I did not miss a single day. I know 3-5 times a day isn't in the cards for many people with full time work, parenting, social life etc. But I know for a fact that showing up consistently every day is what helped me get to where I am.

3. Use trending sounds. If you're seeing a sound or trend all over your fyp, its there for a reason, save it and use it!

The algorithm can be a hard cookie to crack, and at times it feels like its working against us. It can be extremely frustrating and discouraging. Don't focus so much on the numbers, just keep going!
